Is buying milk from local vendors safer than packet milk today?

Many Indian households still trust their local milkman over packet milk, believing it’s fresher and less processed. But with growing cases of milk adulteration—including water, detergent, and synthetic chemicals—there’s debate over which option is safer.

While branded milk packets undergo quality checks and pasteurization, they are not entirely immune to dilution or contamination during transport. On the other hand, local milk often comes without any certification or traceability. So, which source truly offers better health assurance for families? Is it time to push for better testing of both?
